Each year Gulf Coast State College recognizes outstanding students and employees at
Honors Convocation. Honors Convocation is scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2024, 5:30
PM in the Amelia G. Tapper Center for the Arts.
Nominations are accepted through March 18th, 2024.
Nominations
Nominations for outstanding awards are currently being accepted. Outstanding awards
include:
A recognized campus student organization which has met successfully its stated purposes
and objectives, reflects credit upon the college and its community through volunteerism
and campus projects, demonstrates organizational unity, and contributes greatly to
the development of its individual members, and has a designated representative that
serves on the Student Government Association.
A member of the career employee group, represented by the Professional Employee Council,
who shows initiative, represents professional standards through quality of work and
knowledge of job duties and responsibilities, shows concern for student success by
recognizing his/her role in a learning-centered environment by facilitating accurate
communication channels, and performing job with empathy.
A member of the coordinating professional employee group represented by the Professional
Employee Council who adheres to the highest standards of professional conduct, demonstrates
a positive attitude, and participates in activities that communicate the goals, vision,
and mission of the college while contributing to the positive learning environment
of the college.
A sophomore in good standing who is enrolled in a minimum of six semester hours, carries
a minimum 3.0 GPA, and exemplifies outstanding contributions to the college and community
through leadership roles.
An employee of Gulf Coast State College for at least three years who currently serves
as an academic advisor, demonstrates enthusiasm in working with students regarding
their career planning and class selections, shows a sincere concern for the individual
student, and actively contributes to the learning environment of Gulf Coast State
College.
An employee of Gulf Coast State College who serves as a designated advisor for a sanctioned
Gulf Coast State College club, works with students and student groups outside the
classroom, shows a sincere concern for the individual student and the student’s role
in life, demonstrates the ability to develop enthusiasm and leadership among students.
An employee of GCSC who serves at the director, chair, vice president, or president
level, has been an employee of GCSC for at least three years actively contributes
to the learning environment of the college, demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities,
and participates in activities that further the goals, vision, and mission of the
college.
A full-time member of the Gulf Coast State College faculty who exhibits accomplishments
according to one or more of the following criteria:
Exceptional Teaching
Professional Development
Innovation
Problem-solving, research, or grants awarded
Community service
Diversity
Mentoring Adjunct Professor of the Year Award A member of the Gulf Coast State College
adjunct faculty who is not a full-time employee and who exhibits accomplishments according
to one or more of the following criteria:
Exceptional Teaching
Professional Development
Innovation
Problem-solving, research, or grants awarded
Community service
Diversity
Mentoring
A full-time employee of Gulf Coast State College for fewer than three years who shows
initiative, demonstrates a positive attitude, has made an outstanding contribution
to Gulf Coast State College.
A member of the Gulf Coast State College adjunct faculty who is not a full-time employee and who exhibits accomplishments according
to one or more of the following criteria: a. Exceptional Teaching b. Professional Development c. Innovation d. Problem-solving, research, or grants awarded e. Community service f. Diversity g. Mentoring
